Book Review: It’s Not What You Think

I have followed Bethke for a couple of years now since he has had a few videos go viral. While I have not always agreed with every thing he has had to say, he has always left me pondering what was said. This book is no different.

its_not_what_you_thinkThough it is a good read for anyone who lays claim to the title of Christ-follower, it is a really good read for a new Christian. The topics covered by Bethke are ones that are often overlooked by more mature Christians. It seems as if we often take on another language when you hang around a church long enough. We use words to complicate what we’re truly trying to say. Bethke tries to take down these ideas and confronts some of the phrases that we use and instead gets to the root. In some instances, the root is not what you think.

Bethke’s writing style is similar to his videos. It’s thought provoking, but does not require a dictionary or thesaurus to be able to decipher what he is saying. If you’re like me and are tired of many people making the focus of Christianity solely about what happens when you die, you need to read this book.

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review. The words printed here are my own and have not been influenced in any manner other than the words contained in the book.
